Introduction

It's birthday time for that special little person in your life. Making that day special and lots of fun is your top priority.

As you read on you will find ideas for your childs party including some crafts for children and adults.

Hints & Tips

  • To keep on top of the guests coming to the party make a list and do a final check a week before.
  • When deciding on party favours try and keep them in with the theme.
  • Make sure you have at least one other adult around to help you.
  • Keep meals simple, finger foods, pizza, spaghetti, crisps, chicken etc.
  • Safety proof the party venue, make sure there are no electrical areas or dangerous objects. If you are at home look for any items you don't want children to get hold of.
  • Make sure once you have made a final check of who is coming, that you know of any food allergies any child may have.
  • Plan ahead with games, fun favours, and toys to keep the party momentum going.

Must Have's

  • Paper Plates and cups, plastic utensils, are convenient and add to party theme.
  • Party Favours - a great thankyou for coming, even to the youngest guest.
  • Cleaning supplies and rubbish bags.
  • Disposable plastic containers, when the party is over you can send guests home with some left overs or keep some for yourself.

Theme Idea

An idea that is great for both boys and girls would be an animal theme as this is fairly neutral.

You could deck the house out to look like a jungle. Get some tiger or lepard print material for a table cloth.

Cut up long strips of paper and and hang them from places in the room and throw some green sheets over furniture and the floor for the grass.

Good music to go with the theme would be Lion King, Tarzan or Jungle book CD's.

For a game you can have a jungle hunt. For coins(which can be chocolate coins) you can make the baskets from card before the children arrive so you are prepared.

Give them a time of 15 minutes to find the coins or you will be there all day. The child who collects the most coins wins.

As a prize you could(before the party) buy some little jungle themed gifts such as some jungle stationary, or jungle sweets, or a small jungle toy etc.

Activity Time

For an activity in the afternoon you could sit the children down with an A3 piece of card each and let them draw there favorite jungle animals,

Adults help to cut them out, and the children can decorate the animal as they wish.

Make sure you have some felt tips and crafty bits ready before the party, along with some disposable aprons.

When the children finish the animal , with an adults help they can poke some holes in the eyes and two holes at the side, thread some elastic through each hole and tie it, and wear them as masks.

Another activity is face painting, before the party you can buy the face paints and create a menu of what animals you can have painted on the childrens faces. So when they arrive they can pick an animal to have painted on there faces for the day.

Food for the party could be Tropical Fruit Platter, Spaghetti and Meetballs, cookies shaped like jungle animals, little chocolate animal biscuits, jungle juice, and a jungle themes cake, or a cake shaped like a lion or elephant etc

After luch you could do an ostritch relay, using a white balloon for the egg between their legs.

You could have a lion roaring contest and have pre-made ribbons for awards with Loudest Roar, Most Ferocious, Scariest, Funniest etc.

After presents and cake you can hand out goodie bags with some animal shaped chocolate biscuits in, and you can pick up some stickers pencils, rubbers, pencils, and notebooks etc in jungle style for the party favours.
